Client services
We ship software, then keep it running.
Springrock Ventures LLC takes on a small number of client engagements each year, alongside our own products. We are most useful to companies who need something built and then operated in production — not a prototype handed over with a README and best wishes.
What we do
Three things, done properly.
Product engineering
Full-stack application development. We work in Go, Ruby on Rails and Next.js with PostgreSQL, and take features from a problem statement through to something your customers are using.
Infrastructure & deployment
Containerised deployment with zero-downtime releases, TLS and reverse proxying, PostgreSQL administration, object storage, log aggregation and metrics, and a backup and restore process you have actually tested.
Billing & integrations
Subscription billing with Stripe — checkout, webhooks, plan changes, trials and dunning — plus transactional email and the third-party API integrations that turn an application into a business.
How engagements work
Small scope first, then decide.
We would rather prove we are useful on something narrow than sell you a six-month plan on day one.
1. Scoping call
A conversation about what you are trying to ship and what is currently in the way. Free, and there is no obligation at the end of it.
2. Defined first piece
We agree a specific deliverable with a fixed scope and a written estimate before any work starts. You know the cost before we begin.
3. Build, or build and operate
From there, either a project engagement with a defined end, or an ongoing monthly retainer if you want us running it too.
Pricing. Client engagements are quoted per project or as a monthly retainer, based on scope agreed in writing before work begins. They are invoiced directly and are not purchased through this website. Get in touch and we will put a number on it.
Why us
We are our own hardest client.
Springrock runs three subscription products of its own on infrastructure we own and operate — the deployments, the databases, the billing, the monitoring and the 2am alerts. Everything we would do for you, we already do for ourselves, which means our advice is shaped by having to live with the consequences.
